THE LAST WINTER received rave reviews during its limited theatrical run (see our positive critique here). To help hype its forthcoming DVD release on July 22nd, a brand new, super sweet, super eerie poster has been issued. Just look at that bad boy above! The more you stare at it, the scarier it gets! I’m also glad to see “Big Red” himself, Ron Perlman, with his name written in large lettering above the title. In the Arctic region of Northern Alaska, an oil company’s advanced team struggles to establish a drilling base that will forever alter the pristine land. After one team member is found naked and dead in the snow, an environmentalist suspects sour gases may have accidentally been released in the area, provoking hallucinations, disorientation and insanity in the group. After a shocking second fatal incident, he convinces their boss to travel with the team to a hospital for examination. However, mysterious events begin taking place, effectively trapping the group in the base as they succumb to an unknown fear.
This flick really does sound fantastic and I’m looking forward to finally catching it. Genre-lover Larry Fessenden directed and co-scripted with Robert Leaver. It also stars James LeGros, Connie Britton (below), and Zach Gilford. Look for the DVD on July 22nd.
