Finally, the 80’s-infused bowling pin slasher GUTTERBALLS has scored a distributor (see The Pub’s striking review here). TLA Releasing has secured all rights for North American distribution and will release through the company’s Danger After Dark label.
I really can’t get enough of this flick’s spirited take on the old school slasher (my favorite horror sub-genre). From the numerous classic horror movie poster parodies (like the one above) to the silly, sexy, and bloody pics (like the ones we showed you here and below), GUTTERBALLS seems to be loaded with fun to spare. Check out the plot:
A group of innocent teenagers are preparing for the next evening’s local bowling tournament. The night ends and one of the girls wanders back alone, becoming a victim of a brutally sadistic gang rape. On the night of the tournament, players from each of the competing teams begin to meet blood-drenched, gruesome deaths at the hands of a mysterious masked killer sporting black bowling gloves and a thirst for killing in unconventionally creative methods. As the remaining teenagers fight for their lives, the alley will run red with blood and, by sunrise, a shocking gory twist will reveal who is behind all the carnage and mayhem.
The flick was written and directed by Ryan Nicholson and stars Scott Alonzo, Saraphina Bardeaux, Jeremy Beland, Jimmy Blais, Nathan Dashwood, Dan Ellis, and Alastair Gamble. It will be releasing some time in 2008. For now, you can check out the totally awesome trailer here.
