Piranha’s FX guy…

Fangoria discovered something a teeny bit cool in a recent Variety article about PIRANHA 3D, which will be directed by Alexandre Aja from a script written by himself, Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (GOOD LUCK CHUCK?!?!) and Gregory Levasseur. Seems as though CLOVERFIELD monster creator Neville Page will be the man behind the deadly little fish. Page already has his hands full with STAR TREK and AVATAR (credited as “creature designer” and “concept artist”, respectively) – this is a suddenly popular guy, whose name is one to look out for. Actually, you might not be able to avoid it.

This PIRANHA is about a prehistoric species released from an underwater chasm by an earthquake.

When I spoke to Aja about his film, he said he’s planning on making the “ultimate popcorn movie.” Seems like he’s got a good start… PIRANHA will hit theaters July 24, 2009, courtesy of The Weinstein Company.
