Just the other day, the Ammon-ator gave you all the trailer for the DVD release of THE TATOOIST. And now, to further hype its upcoming June 24th unveiling, STYD slapped up a bunch of new stills from the flick. That’s inked-up star Jason Behr above and sexy Caroline Cheong below. THE TATOOIST will be the first to come out under the newly-established Ghost House Underground and it doesn’t look half bad. I like how it focuses on the ancient Samoan tradition of tattoo (called tatau), which lends a nice sense of realism to the scares. And that trailer showcases some gruesome, ink-involved imagery. Nice! I think the idea of needle-inscribed tattoos fits well within the confines of horror. I can remember an old TALES FROM THE CRYPT episode called DEAD MAN’S CHEST that involved tattoos and evil, and it was pretty sweet.
And for further evidence that THE TATOOIST may indeed be worth checking out, the flick’s two writers, Matthew Grainger and Jonathan King, both worked on the ingeniuously out-there horror/comedy BLACK SHEEP (not the one with Chris Farley).
