Good news of the distribution kind for the rip-roaring horror flick SLAUGHTER, which Mr. Ammon last told you about here. Variety has just reported that CP Productions and Ghostrider Entertainment have teamed up to deliver a smorgasbord of horror productions. And one of the first meals on their plate is the aforementioned SLAUGHTER!
I’m really starting to think that this flick is going to be a must-see. I mean, I’m not a big believer in karma, but good things just keep happening that help further along its path to completion. First, it wins the first annual Slamdance Horror Screenplay contest, then it scores three full-fledged hotties to star in it (Shawnee Smith above, Erica Leerhsen, and AnnaLynne McCord below), and now it has found a distributor. Perhaps scripters Nathan Brookes and Bobby Lee Darby struck up a deal with the devil (hey, that’s not a bad idea for a horror flick right there). I’m just saying that someone or something out there must really want us to see this one.
Anyways, the plot does have a morbidly fun if not entirely original premise: A young actress travels to a remote location to shoot a film, only to discover she and her co-stars have been cast in a Japanese snuff film and must fight to survive.
SLAUGHTER was directed by Victor Garcia (RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL), and now, thanks to the CP and Ghostrider merger, will be eyeing a release some time in 2009.
