Rolfe’s sexy thriller

In my opinion, writer/director Rolfe Kanefsky (above) knows what it takes to make an entertainingly serviceable low-budget horror flick. Just watch two of his previous entries, THE HAZING and NIGHTMARE MAN, and you’ll see what I mean. First off, you gotta have T & A. Second, the blood must go splat often. Third, ain’t nothing wrong with dropping some schlock humor. Clearly, Mr. Kanefsky agrees with all three and his flicks really pay off. And now, Fango just got the word on his latest genre effort.

It’s called ONE IN THE GUN. Written and directed again by Mr. K., himself, the flick is described as a noir thriller with a psychological twist. Though technically not a full-on horror film, Kanefsky adds, “Like NIGHTMARE MAN, it is dark and disturbing. Things aren’t what they seem, and there are major twists that should make viewers want to watch the film again once it’s over.”

ONE IN THE GUN is presently in the casting process with Steven Man (SAVAGE ISLAND) already set to play the lead. The synopsis from Kanefsky goes like this: “It starts as a traditional BODY HEAT-type sexy thriller where a struggling artist meets a drop-dead gorgeous femme fatale who is unhappily married to a very wealthy man. As seduction heats up, hidden agendas and deadly desires quickly turn into bloodshed, and the film takes a detour to a desert motel, where strange characters invade the artist’s life as it spirals out of control.” He also made sure to mention, “There will be blood, and many people die throughout the course of the story. It will be very much a ‘Rolfe Kanefsky flick,’ and fans of dark, suspenseful cinema should be pleased to take a journey on this unusual ride into one man’s personal hell.”

Sexy Thriller? Many People Die? Strange Characters? Looks like Mr. K. will have all his bases covered once again. I’m down so far. GUN is looking to start shooting in and around Los Angeles on May 5th. You can also check out its website here.
