In the spirit of announcing PUNISHER: WAR ZONE being bumped back three months this morning (check that out HERE), I have more release date news for ya–it’s time to mark that calendar again!
First up, Screen Gems announced that UNDERWORLD 3: RISE OF THE LYCONS will be released upon the world January 23, 2009! Nice choice for Screen Gems, as mid-January is becoming more and more popular among the release of successful genre efforts. Does it mean UNDERWORLD 3 is gonna be awesome? Considering Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman are not returning for a third time around, the chances for this blowing everyone out of the water is high… but you never know.
Remember POSSESSION? That crappy-ass looking Sarah Michelle Gellar horror/thriller that was supposed to be released a while back, and just… never was? It has now been given a release date of October 3rd! Either the studio is banking on Gellar’s draw when it comes to these type of imitation horror flicks, or their buying just enough time to make it look scary enough to bring people out in the prime horror-movie release month. Either way, there you have it–October. Yippie.
With so many release dates and so little time, just remember that these dates are not locked in, and in all honestly… will probably change a few times before finding a date they’ll stick with. Except maybe UNDERWORLD 3. That date sounds solid. Stick around for more release date updates as we hear them, and get ready for UNDERWORLD 3: RISE OF THE LYCONS in theaters January 23, 2009, and POSSESSION in theaters October 3, 2008.
