We got the new, international teaser for M. Night Shyamalan’s THE HAPPENING
for ya, and while it doesn’t truly explain what the “happening” actually is, it continues to hint that it pretty much involves people senselessly harming either themselves or others. (Early script reviews implied that Mother Nature herself was behind the epidemic, waging war against humanity… That could completely not be the case now, of course.)
Due to hit theaters on June 13, the film (which might earn an R rating) stars Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel, John Leguizamo, and Betty Buckley – and could either go a long way toward restoring faith in the once-promising “auteur”, or be one more nail in his coffin.
As far as I’m concerned, the guy is a supremely talented director, and a very pretentious writer. If he lost some of his now-infamous self-absorption and worked with someone else on his screenplays, I think his films would fare much better (how could his last two films NOT benefit from fresh eyes?)… Just one man’s opinion though…
