Well, good news X-Philes! The new X-FILES film has officially wrapped production in Vancouver, after three months of intriguing mystery (and well, some serious fake-outs).
But the truth out there is this, it wasn’t ALL set up to throw us all off (as those pics of Mulder and Scully embracing apparently were… I’m beginning to wonder if Xzibit is even truly in this!). This movie is most definitely on target for its July 25 release date.
Among the (scant) revelations: the sequel will be looking for “new” fans, so don’t expect lots of reminiscing about the old days. Said producer Frank Spotnitz: “We’re not doing an exercise in nostalgia to appeal to the fans of the show. People who were too young?? The show isn’t THAT old, is it? (*Finds that the show premiered in 1993, feels old, passes out, gets up, forgets whereabouts, takes a minute, goes back to computer.*) So it turns out the X-Files have been around for quite a while… Maybe it’s the nonstop reruns on TNT and Sci Fi that keep it feeling fresh.
In addition, we learn that the new story picks up with the main characters in real time, six years after the events of the series… Click it HERE to read more!
