Dicaprio’s a Chaser?

Hot-shite screenwriter William Monahan (THE DEPARTED, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, and at least one draft of JURASSIC PARK IV) has just added a new project to his expanding slate, the serial killer thriller (rhyme-time!) THE CHASER.

Apparently Leonardo Dicaprio is interested in playing the lead role in this (gasp!) remake of a popular Korean film. Roy Lee and Doug Davison – who have, I’m not even kidding, been responsible for just about every Hollywood remake of an Asian film in the past 7 years – are producing… These guys are like Platinum Dunes, only they remake flicks that JUST came out…

Anyhow, DiCaprio would play an ex-cop who goes on the warpath trying to find a missing girl. The girl, who may or may not be alive, is being used by a serial killer to taunt the police.

Doesn’t sound too bad, and this team DID previously bring us THE DEPARTED – although excuse me if I give ol’ Marty Scorsese most of the credit on that one. And dare I say it, Dicaprio is a very decent actor and seems pretty smart about the projects he picks, so we’ll keep an eye on this movie’s development…

I take it back, I hate Leonardo – this is his girl, Bar Rafaeli…
