Wolfman begins this Feb.

THE WOLF MAN has been somewhat under the radar in recent months, and some may have speculated it was due to the writer’s strike, which has been stacking up the corpses of pictures in pre-production left and right (here’s one casualty). Well, as Bloody-Disgusting has it, the Wolf Man is still set to howl, and beginning February 8, the cameras will roll on Mark Romanek’s film.

Great news, considering I’m very interested to see what Romanek (ONE HOUR PHOTO and a ton of cool music vids) and screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker (SE7EN, SLEEPY HOLLOW) have in store for us. Benicio Del Toro will be sitting in the make-up chair for hours as Larry Talbot, the poor sap who turns into the fanged monster every full moon. Anthony Hopkins will play his pops, and reportedly Emily Blunt will play Wolfy’s love interest, although that still hasn’t been absolutely confirmed as far as I know… Other players include Rick Baker, doing the effects (awesome news) and Alwin H. Kuchler (SUNSHINE), who will be photographing the Victorian London-set madness. The film is set to be released on February 13, 2009, which is much too long a wait if you ask me.

Ms. Blunt – sophisticatedly hot!
