April Fool’s in March?

ShockTillYouDrop has done some sweet journo work and discovered that several online retailers have set a MARCH 25 release date for APRIL FOOL’S DAY, the Butcher Brothers remake of the 1986 film of the same name. As far as I knew, this flick was always intended to get a theatrical release (courtesy of Sony’s Stage 6 division), so either it’s not good enough, or Stage 6 doesn’t want to spend time ramping up the overdue publicity machine for it (i.e. it’s not quite good enough). March 25 is a week before April 1, obviously, so they’re aiming for that elusive “people who roam the aisles of video stores on April Fool’s Day” demographic.

I’m interested in this flick, not just because it features Taylor Cole (pictured) but because I’m curious how the ending is handled. The original’s conclusion is both an annoyance and a reason the film is unique. I suppose I’ll end up seeing it… One day…

Here’s the utterly bland synopsis: When Muffy decides to invite her drama club to her isolated house for a “killer” weekend, nobody would have expected it to be taken so literally. Now the guest list is being trimmed and suspicions turn on each other.
