CLOVERFIELD is just about here (has it been 6 months already?) and the commercials for it are becoming omnipresent. Here’s a new one that premiered during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and while Ryan Seacrest’s visage is certainly more horrific than anything that follows, it’s a compelling look at the J.J. Abrams-produced monster movie. There are some cool shots that I had never seen before, and they sure don’t look like the footage of some douchebag running around. (Maybe there’s a scene where it’s mentioned the guy holding the camera is an Oscar-winning cinematographer or something.)

I’ll admit that I get some chills when the one girl screams “Oh my God what IS that?!” Seems like a believable reaction to seeing a giant “Cloverfield” walking around. I know that I’d be all “Holy crap, what is a Cloverfield doing here in New York?!”
