The George Romero-produced horror anthology DEADTIME STORIES (no connection, I don’t think, to the 1986 movie of the same name) just commenced production in Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported yesterday. Director Jeff Monahan, who has acted for Romero in the past, is at the helm. Christine Forrest, Romero’s wife, is also a producer on the flick.
The first story to be shot – in Fayette County – is DUST – about dust samples brought back to Earth from Mars that can cure cancer and have “some pretty wacky side effects.” (Just like Levitra!)
After that will be the college-set horror tale ON SABBATH HILL, shooting in Uniontown and at Seton Hill University in Greensburg.
The third entry is untitled and no plot synopsis is given, but Monahan plans on having it wrapped up in February. Also planned is a Spring release, which seems like pretty quick turnaround to me, but we’ll see what happens. Monahan already has a second collection of DEADTIME tales in mind to roll next Spring if the first one does well (a theatrical and DVD release is being negotiated with several distributors).
Well, I’m always down for horror anthologies, especially when Romero’s name is involved (CREEPSHOW 3 doesn’t count. For anything), so I’m looking forward to these DEADTIME STORIES. If anyone is familiar with any of the locations I described above, well, we wouldn’t mind it so much if you checked out the set and “blended into the scenery” if ya know what I mean, heh heh… (Take pictures and give us scoops!)
