Back in June we heard Thomas Wheeler’s fantasy-adventure novel THE ARCANUM was picked up by Gold Circle Films (check that shite out HERE), and today… after sitting around for four months… it looks like THE ARCANUM finally has a director to take it to the big screen.

Randall Wallace, the dude who wrote BRAVEHEART, will be taking the bull by the horns and directing this bad boy, which is currently in it’s final revision stage. Once the final script is polished and ready to rock, they’ll start casting. And what a line up of characters they have to fill! If you don’t recall, check out THE ARCANUM’s brief synopsis:

[Set in 1919], the story follows Arthur Conan Doyle as he leads a secret society known as the Arcanum — whose members include magician Harry Houdini, voodoo priestess Marie Laveau and horror writer H.P. Lovecraft — against a powerful supernatural force that threatens the world.

Damn straight! While I can’t get THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN out of my mind when thinking about this story, I must say it’s leaning on the ‘badass’ scale of things. Let’s hope they can pull it off. Wallace began as a writer, but has since directed WE WERE SOLDIERS and THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK. So he has no real genre or big adventure experience, but you know what they say… there’s a first time for everything!

Stick around for more on THE ARCANUM as we hear it!
