Chronically mumbly character actor Giovanni Ribisi is the latest lucky f*ck to beam aboard James Cameron’s AVATAR, the live-action/photorealistic/3-D sci-fi epic which is scheduled for a May 22, 2009 release (got it marked down already).

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ribisi’s character will be “passive-aggressive,” which is a state-of-mind Ribisi has mastered in flicks like THE GIFT, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, and BOILER ROOM. He joins Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Joel David Moore (for my interview with Joel, where we touch briefly upon AVATAR, click it HERE.)

For those who’ve been asleep for the past two years, AVATAR is about a war veteran (Worthington) who visits a distant planet, and has to contend with its populace – as well as the military force stationed there.

The lovely Zoe Saldana. (Who has also just been cast in – so she’ll be hanging on many a geek’s wall in the coming years…)
