Just the other day I wrote an article explaining how it was Bruce Campbell holding up BUBBA HO-TEP 2, although it seemed like the possibility of Bruce getting back into the Elvis costume wasn’t totally ruled out.
Scratch that. Bruce wants nothing to do with the flick.
He explained to Fango – in no uncertain terms: “[BUBBA NOSFERATU] is dead to me. It sleeps with the fishes. Don Coscarelli is a very passionate filmmaker. We got to a few points [developing the screenplay] that we couldn’t reconcile. I want to keep our friendship, so we parted ways. So I’m not part of that project.”
Certainly sounds like a falling out occurred between Campbell and Coscarelli, although no further details are available. (I’m guessing, with Paul Giamatti on board, Coscarelli might still go forward with the flick.)
In more encouraging news, Campbell says that the EVIL DEAD remake is at a stalemate.
“The feedback from the fans was 90 percent negative. It’s going nowhere. The remake has fizzled fast at Sam’s company.”
This is true. Ever since the awesome Chan-Wook Park turned down the opportunity to direct, there’s been absolutely no movement whatsoever on the remake.
As for a fourth film in the franchise? “Raimi still talks about it, but he’s in no rush to do it with everything else he has going on. Sam jokes, ‘Maybe we can do another EVIL DEAD when we’re 70.’ ”
