Here we go again!
Apparently, horror films aren’t safe from the dreaded “torrents,” as it appears Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN has found itself leaked onto the internet – much as Eli Roth’s HOSTEL PART II did earlier this summer.
What makes this leaked copy especially intriguing is that it is of the “work print” version shown to test audiences in June, not the locked-in version that will be in theaters this Friday. This and the fact that it is apparently a near-perfect copy indicates that it was someone within the film’s production process doing the leaking (tee-hee!) – not an audience member with a camera or a theater owner/projectionist.
This work print was not appreciated by most – a widely hated rape scene in the mental hospital has since been cut (a scene I found detestable when I read it in the script), a different ending was whipped up, and more deaths were filmed (remember when Zombie began hiring all his old DEVIL’S REJECTS buddies so late in the game?)
If there’s an upside to all this, it’s this: if the movie does poorly at the box office, Dimension can feel free to blame internet piracy and not a crappy product or lack of interest (coughHostel2cough).
