Masters of Horror return

Mick Garris confirmed on Fangoria Radio that indeed there will be a Season 3 of the wildly uneven MASTERS OF HORROR – although Starz Entertainment will no longer by financing the series – Lionsgate will. In addition, Showtime opted not to let Garris and co. return, so the gang is looking for a new home as we speak (or as I type and you read).

Garris said about his new partners: “They wanted to be involved since the beginning [of season one], but they didn’t act fast enough. Lionsgate is negotiating with a network now, so hopefully we will be announcing something soon and get back on schedule with the series. Even though [the first two seasons] were the number-two original series on Showtime they didn’t appreciate us enough to want us back.”

I am glad that MOH is coming back, and yet my enthusiasm contradicts what I’ve thought of the series thus far. There have been a handful of truly memorable episodes (Argento’s JENIFER and PELTS; Stuart Gordon’s THE BLACK CAT; John Landis’ FAMILY; Tobe Hooper’s DANCE OF THE DEAD; Miike’s unaired, unbelievably f*cked up IMPRINT) and the rest have been either average-bordering-on-dull, or truly terrible (Both of Garris’ episodes belong in the latter category). Still, I grew up loving shows like THE TWILIGHT ZONE and TALES FROM THE CRYPT – so affection for anthology horror is in my blood. And you gotta believe that some of these guys will knock it out of the park on their third try, right?

I’m curious as to what episodes you guys dig. Spit a few bullets below and let us know which ones tickled your scary-bone.

MOH’s most memorable character = The Deer Woman!
