The husband and wife team of Chris Kentis and Laura Lau – them behind OPEN WATER – have just agreed to direct an untitled thriller for Paramount Vantage.
Story revolves around a young woman who is arrested for a crime she didn’t commit and plunged into a state of confusion and psychological terror as she defends herself.
Kentis is also slated to direct INDIANAPOLIS – about the ship torpedoed in 1945, which as we all know from JAWS, resulted in the shark-related deaths of hundreds of U.S. sailors. This has to be the greatest knee-jerk signing in Hollywood history: ‘Okay, so this guy directed a movie about sharks once, so let’s get him to direct this HUGE f*ckin movie that also features sharks. Because of the sharks, you see.?” Personally I’d rather have a seasoned storyteller at the helm of this most incredible tale… (I also thought OPEN WATER was overrated.)
