Brief tidbit, since Comic-Con is getting into full swing and news is coming in left, right, and bouncing off my f*ckin’ head… Even though I think he’s said things to this effect before, in an interview with Aint it Cool News, Rob Zombie fully rules out doing a HALLOWEEN 2.
“I definitely would not do sequels, so no. Because much like I’d assume Carpenter, I wanted to make a movie with a beginning, a middle, and an end, so it’s a movie going experience. It’s not a franchise going experience, because I think that’s part of what ruins these movies too – everybody’s like “well what are you going to do for part 2?” I don’t give a shit about a part 2 or 3, 4, 5. I want to make one great movie and then whatever happens happens.”
Of course, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS is a sequel – but in all fairness Zombie basically went about that film as if it was its own entity (he also flat-out says it’s a western and not a horror movie).
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Dimension will care one way or another if Zombie comes back – they can just give ol Eli Roth a call and ask him to whip up a HALLOWEEN PART TWO – an opportunity I don’t doubt he’d jump at (just make sure you go out and see it, otherwise there’s a good chance he’ll cry about it on Myspace).
