Even before GRINDHOUSE and it’s obvious love for movie trailers, I too have always loved trailers for flicks (sometimes even more than the actual movie itself). There’s something about stringing together the money shots in 2 minutes (or less) that’s fulfilling beyond belief.
Appartently I’m not the only one either, as masters of horror directors Joe Dante, Edgar Wright, Mick Garris, Mary Lambert and John Landis have all agreed to record commentary tracks for trailers for the website Trailers From Hell, and Sprint’s ‘Fun Little Movies’, a TV channel for your phone. Trailers under commentary are classic enerable horror and exploitation films from the likes of Roger Corman, Eurospy movies from the 60s, and classic monster movies.
This is a pretty sweet project for all involved, hopefully they’ll be able to land more and more guest commentary director’s for this gig, as the concept of watching cheese-fest trailers and have a few ‘Masters of Horror’ give their own commentary on them is pure genius… so what the hell are you waiting for?
