We haven’t heard much about the upcoming vampire flick DAYBREAKERS from the Spierig brothers (UNDEAD) for awhile, so I suppose we should feel lucky star Ethan Hawke decided to chat about the flick with MTV today, giving us more insights into what the hell this whole thing is all about.
From the horses mouth: “It takes place in the future and the whole world is vampires. We’re eating our own resources so people are trying to come up with blood substitutes, trying to get us off of foreign humans. It’s a huge allegory for where we are.”
Whoa man, that’s totally deep… But seriously, it does sound like a blast, with Hawke starring as a vampire researcher, co-starring alongside Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill. Talk about a cast! Plus, with the Spierig Bros. behind the whole thing… this could be huge. Or, it could feel washed up and too BLADE-like for anyone to take seriously. Either way, I can’t wait to see what they have instore for us!
