I don’t know what it is, but I really dig the flicks Dark Castle has put out over the years. That’s not to say that they’re high caliber or anything like that, but they sure know how to entertain. Whether it’s HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, or HOUSE OF WAX, their remakes are flashy, have a good look, and are… entertaining as hell!
So when Variety announced this morning that Dark Castle was teaming with Warner Bros. to produce 2-3 straight to DVD titles a year, I was stoked! Yeah, I’d prefer my flicks theatrical, but I’ll take Dark Castle picture anyway I can! Seeing as Dark Castle is backed by super-producer Joel Silver, it’s no surprise their flick’s are so damn fun to watch.
Besides RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL hitting DVD this October (that will be pimped out on HD DVD and Blue-Ray even more, with their unique navigating abilities- as RETURN will be a ‘choose your own adventure’ movie- more on that HERE), Dark Castle has a few other projects up it’s sleave- and they’re surprisingly not remakes!
A supernatural thriller called WIDOW WHISPERS, a psychological thriller called ODDS, and last but at the very top of my list, CHEERLEADERS IN TROUBLE, a homage to the slasher film of the 80s! How flippin’ cool is that? Holy moly, what a great title! Obviously, tongue will be placed firmly in cheek with that one!
So while it may be STD, these flicks sound promising enough, and with Silver on board, you know they’ll be made to have a good time. Stick around for more news on these titles as we hear about them, and get ready for RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL on DVD this October.
