When I was in high school, the rock band Korn was in the prime of it’s career. They had a few albums that totally rocked, their sound was unique and the image they were trying to maintain worked pretty damn well for the time. Then they collaborated with Ice Cube, produced a couple more ‘so-so’ albums, and now… they’re really nowhere to be found. Such is the music business, I guess.
Today Korn frontman Jonathan Davis recently had a chat with AOL, and dropped a few lines regarding an opera he’s working on called OBLIVION, which he’s collaborating with Richard Gibbs and Clive Barker to bring to life. That’s right, Korn and Clive Barker!
The ‘dark opera’ is about the ‘end of the world’ and has a sound that is nothing like Korn at all. So if you’re a fan of Korn, don’t get too excited about this, and if you hate Korn, don’t worry- cause it’ll sport a sound that’s totally different! Davis is writing the music for OBLIVION, though will not be starring in any role.
Anything that collaborates with Clive Barker, even an opera, has the potential to rock pretty hard, so I’m game for this beast to make an appearance.
