Despite having a title that rubs me the wrong way, and a plot-description that confounds me, PEARBLOSSOM has a lot going for it. Namely: chickadees.
Already starring Scout Taylor-Compton (aka Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN) and one half of the Crazy Babysitter Twins, Electra Avellan, the flick has just added hotties Sophie Monk, Angela Lindvall, and Charles Napier. Okay, well the last one (he who got his face ripped off by Hannibal Lecter) isn’t in quite the same category as the previous bunch, but he’s still a genre vet. Also joining the cast are the decidedly not hot Danny Woodburn and Patrick Renna.
Director Ron Carlson talked to Dread Central about PEARBLOSSOM’s plot: “The film is about a lesbian couple that departs a New Years Eve party in 1968 and meets the creator of the universe while driving the Pearblossom Hwy. It is there where they are put to rest for 40 years and wake New Years Day, 2009. It is about they’re first 24 hours of survival as these reborn creatures.”
Well, I’m fine with the lesbian couple part (please be Lindvall and Monk, please please). The rest is a big fat bowl of “A-whaaaaaa?!?!” Still, Carlson is using his “director’s chair” to lure many a pretty lady to this project, so maybe when we get a real look at his flick, he’ll lure our dollar bills into his wallet, as well.
