Earlier today we got wind that MY BLOODY VALENTINE is now up for the remake treatment, and for some reason, I thought that’d be the last remake I’d hear about…. for at least a week. Boy, was I wrong!
According to Variety, MGM and Hyde Park Entertainment are teaming together to remake Brian De Palma’s DRESS TO KILL… for a Straight to DVD release! Actually, the two are joining forces for a slew of DTD flicks (hoping for 12 a year), with KILL as it’s first project.
Has the whole world gone crazy? Not only are they remaking everything, but now they’re even going as far as to remake it as a STD??? That just ain’t right… The original stared Nancy Allen, Michael Caine, and Dennis Franz, and was about a transexual killer on a prostitute murder spree.
No word on when we can expect this piece to hit the DVD shelves, but I can only imagine their hopes are to get it out by Christmas, or early next year. What do you think? Think remaking this De Palma classic for a STD release is a good idea? To put it lightly, my opinion is ‘no’ (in case you were wondering). Stick around for more on DRESSED TO KILL as we hear it!
