I’ve never gotten into the world of Neil Gaiman, despite constantly hearing how unique and straight-up friggin’ awesome it is. Nothing against the author, I’ve just never picked up a book of his that captured my interest.
With the adaptation of STARDUST looming this summer, and the Robert Zemeckis-helmed BEOWULF on the way this November (Gaiman co-wrote the screenplay with Roger Avary), Neil is getting set to hop into the director’s chair to bring his own DEATH: THE HIGH COST OF LIVING to the big screen.
Story concerns Death – portrayed as a gothy teenage girl – hanging out among us mortals and getting involved with a suicidal young man (most likely to be played by the ubiquitous Shia LaBeouf). Witches and many evil manifestations also pop up.
Apparently Gaiman met with Guillermo del Toro about this project, although it’s not certain what del Toro’s role will be in the production (seems like a match made in heaven though).
How’s this strike you Gaiman fanatics? Excited about the guy stepping behind the camera after years of sitting behind a desk? Or should he be going with a different project?
