Variety reports today that Dark Horse Entertainment (that of Dark Horse Comics) is partnering with Hyde Park Entertainment for an onslaught of independent films to be coming out here and into the future. The new movies being made under the partnership will be based on Dark Horse Comics, all featuring relatively small budgets. First up in the comic adaptation? THE BLACKBURNE COVENANT.
THE BLACKBURNE COVENANT, based on the graphic novel by Fabian Nicieza, illustrated by Stefano Raffaele, is set to be the first film in the partnership, and from the sounds of it, it’s a very good choice indeed! Check out what this COVENANT is all about: the story deals with the publication of a bestselling novel in which the author’s fictional plot turns out to have a supernatural basis in reality.
It’s like the scary, supernatural version of STRANGER THAN FICTION, and even a bit like IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS. And since MADNESS was one f*cked up wild trip, you can be sure to sign my ass up for this one!
This Dark House partnership sounds like one of the cooler collaborations we’ve seen in a while, as Dark Horse has some seriously cool properties that would all make awesome movies. Let’s hope they don’t screw the pooch with COVENANT, and set themselves up for a string of hits to come. Stick around for more on THE BLACKBURNE COVENANT as we hear it!
I wish the novels that feature chicks like this one had some basis in reality…
