A most unusual and intriguing project is WITTENBERG, the directorial debut of Sid Haig, who knows a thing or two about horror, having portrayed the positively disgusting (and hilarious) Capt. Spaulding in Rob Zombie’s HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and DEVIL’S REJECTS. It would appear that he’s gone to many a horror movie convention and handed out a ton of business cards, because the cast he’s lining up for his flick is a veritable buffet of recognizable genre film faces.
Fangoria reports that the cast list includes Andrew Divoff (WISHMASTER), Nicholas Brendon (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER), Charlotte Stewart (ERASERHEAD), Ashley Lawrence (HELLRAISER), Tom Towles (HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES), Ezra Buzzington (THE HILLS HAVE EYES) and William Smith (GRAVE OF THE VAMPIRE). Haig is on a roll, and hopefully we’ll be reading the names “Foree,” and “Forsyth” fairly soon…
If that B-movie pedigree isn’t impressive enough, the flick has been written by Jill Gatsby, director Larry Cohen’s daughter (Cohen being the genius behind Q and IT’S ALIVE, among countless others).
As we told you here, the plot involves a reality-show where contestants enter themselves into a mental asylum (sounds like an awesome program!). Unfortunately, Dr. Dorian (Haig himself) is going to make them regret ever making such a boneheaded, what-the-f*ck-were-you-thinking?! decision.
