T4 A Go-Go

After months of speculation whether or not there would be another TERMINATOR movie, The Hollywood Reporter got word today that YES, in fact, there WILL be a TERMINATOR 4- with a proposed release date of early 2009!

What? How? Why? Easily the first three questions to pop in my brain, so I’m sure your staggering around thinking the same thing- so here’s the dealio: a recently formed film development company called The Halcyon Co. just purchased the rights to the TERMINATOR franchise, as it was one of the only franchises not owned by a major studio (previously owned by C2’s Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna).

After their purchase, which gives them rights for all future TERMINATOR projects (including TV’s upcoming ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’), merchandising and even some revenue still generated by T3: RISE OF THE MACHINES, Halcyon plans on making a whole new trilogy of TERMINATOR films. First up? TERMINATOR 4, of course! From a script written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris.

No script details have been released, but the prep for the film is said to start immediately. Pretty crazy news on this end, as T2: JUDGEMENT DAY is still one of my favorite films of all time. On the one hand, I’m kinda pissed that another TERMINATOR will be made with a) no James Cameron, and b) no Schwarzenegger (sorry folks, this here poster be Fan Art, and nothing official!). But the fact that the series is still controlled by a smaller studio is pretty cool… and who knows, maybe the ‘new’ TERMINATOR trilogy will be hottest shit in town.

To check out all the gory (aka boring) details, click HERE, and get ready for the TERMINATOR to be back sometime in 2009.
