Just yesterday I pointed you in the direction of a few new images coming from John Cusack’s summer horrorfest 1408. What a difference a day makes, as now 1408 is slated to open almost an entire month earlier than originally planned!
I used to think that when studios decide to release a movie earlier than planned, it meant that the movie was going to be so awesome, that they wanted to release earlier than later- for the pleasure of the movie watching public. How naive I was to hold this thought. Movies like this past January’s THE HITCHER is a perfect example, as that was originally slated for an April release. Since that fiasco, I’ve come to the conclusion that release date changes don’t mean shit.
With that said, we were informed today that Dimension Films is releasing 1408 June 22nd, instead of the previously held July 13th date. Personally, a horror movie released on any Friday 13th just sounds like free marketing to me, but what the flock do I know? Least to say we’ll be able to catch the hotel room madness earlier than we originally thought, and I guess that’s a better than a stick in the eye. So, with that in mind, be sure to update your calendar, and prepare for 1408 in theaters everywhere June 22nd.
