Come Closer to Carter Smith

When “noted fashion photographer” Carter Smith was signed on to direct THE RUINS (the killer vine movie) we all exhaled a collective “Huh?” There was word this his short film “Bugcrush” was the reason for the hire. Well, “Bugcrush” be pretty darn good, because it just got Smith another job, a supernatural thriller entitled COME CLOSER.

Variety’s simple synopsis reads “Story concerns a woman who may be possessed by unseen forces or simply may be losing her mind.”

COME CLOSER has been around for a while, originally birthed at Dimension as a straight-ahead thriller, but the project fell apart when Miramax and Disney divorced (COME CLOSER was told repeatedly by both parents, “It’s not your fault, we still love you very much…”).

Now it’s got new life, a new screenwriter, and Smith set to take over as soon as he finishes work on THE RUINS. Supposedly it’s going to be a more “literary” work than before, which is fine, just make it flippin’ good.

Two of the beauties Carter Smith has set his lens to. Lucky bastard.
