Apparently the new Will Smith movie, I AM LEGEND has a goal to out spend SUPERMAN RETURNS or something, or at least that’s the only reason I can understand spending 5 million dollars…on one scene. Yup, you read that right, they spent 5 million bucks just on one scene. Hopefully you actually get to see that money pay off on screen…yeah I’m looking right at you SUPERMAN RETURNS!
The reason for the huge expense bill for just one scene: six straight nights of shooting on the Brooklyn Bridge using thousands of extras, boats, and military vehicles for an evacuation scene. Yeah, that must have been one helluva traffic jam for New Yorkers; they must have been pissed!
I AM LEGEND is based off of the Richard Matheson book of the same name. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence and is set for a December 14th release. The story for the film follows a survivor of a worldwide epidemic that turns people into vampires.
Will Smith – 20 million dollars. Thousands of extras, lighting crews, and vehicles – 5 million dollars. Making an awesome evacuation scene for a cool futuristic vampire flick – f*cking priceless.
