Being the cinematic pimp daddy that he is, Bruce Campbell is out there right now selling the shite outta his latest masterpiece MY NAME IS BRUCE, and so far, the word of mouth around that puppy is that it rocks more than your sister on a Saturday night.
That being said, at one of the early screenings of BRUCE the boys at Film Ick got whispers that Campbell is in talks to star in a new movie from Richard Stanley called VACATION, and boy does it sound like a trip! Stanley, as you all know I’m sure, was the man behind the cult fav DUST DEVIL, as well as THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU (before he was fired and replaced by John Frankenheimer). So what does VACATION have instore for us? Check it out:
The film tells the tale of some Americans abroad… the Americans have upped sticks after an apocalyptic cataclysm has pretty much wiped out the west and are trying to start new lives in the Middle East, whether the Middle East likes it or not.
A bit bizarre and downright strange? Yes. But from Stanley, does it surprise you? Bruce is in talks to star as a business man who tries to rise to power in the ‘new’ order of America in the Middle East. He also has a stripper for a girlfriend. Wow. I can just imagine him in a suite, in the middle of the desert, trying to make deals and shit with a bunch of scary mofos that want him dead. Count me in!
Nothing is set in stone as of yet (could be one helluva rumor at this point), but we’ll keep our eyes peeled and our ears to the ground for any indication that this bitch is gonna happen. I sure hope it does, as it sounds like something Bruce would really be able to sink his teeth into- plus, working with Stanley has to be good, right?
