A few

weeks ago
I stumbled upon a little Spanish horror flick known as
EL ORFANATO
(or The Orphanage in English) and while I thought it looked cool
enough in the trailer, I also discovered that Guillermo del Toro was actually
producing it, and if anyone knows a good ghost story, it’s him. (If you haven’t
seen del Toro’s
THE DEVIL’S BACKBONE
, do yourself a favor and
go buy it. It’s some scary sh*t!)

While information on this flick
seemed scarce at the time, one of our readers known simply as “The greatest John
Carpenter fan in Spain” shot me an email with

this
cool link filled with new stills from
EL ORFANATO
.

The film’s being directed by
Juan Antonio Bayona, and is about a woman named Laura who
returns to the house where she was raised, and decides to transform it into an
orphanage. Soon, her son, Simón, makes an invisible friend, but what is this
friend really only her son’s imagination?

The teaser trailer that originally
turned me onto this film can also be seen on the page with the stills

here
, and while I don’t speak Spanish, the page
is worth checking out for the stills (like the one below) of EL ORFANATO.
So check out the stills and if you know any more about EL ORFANATO,
school us all by spitting some bullets below.
