Todd Farmer knows how to entertain, while keeping the thrills and the horror at full throttle. The writer showcased his skills with JASON X, and entertained the Jason Voorhees fans everywhere with his concept of Jason… in Space. And surprisingly, it worked!
MovieHole caught up with Farmer and asked an assload of questions from their readers, a lot which touched on the whole FRIDAY THE 13TH series, as well as his work on the medicorely-received THE MESSENGERS (which was rewritten by someone else). Amongst the subjects, he touched on another one of his scripts that horror ninja John Carpenter has been eyeing, called PSYCHOPATH. Anything called PSYCHOPATH from the writer of JASON X has to be good!
Here’s a taste of what he had to say: We’re going the comic book route [first]. Release the comic, make the movie. That’s the plan. And when we dive into the movie, Carpenter is attached to direct. Although the project has seen its ups and downs I’m still very excited about it. Psychopath is classic Carpenter along the lines of Halloween and Escape from New York with the heart of Starman.
Classic Carpenter? Shit, I think Carpenter needs to make this flick just as much as we need to see it! Make us forget GHOSTS OF MARS and VAMPIRES, and bring back the old Carpenter that rocked us in the 80s! If anyone can do it, I think Farmer can… but we’ll see what happens. With a comic book scheduled to hit first, it’s all up in the air if the movie will actually get made- but my fingers are crossed!
