Well, it should come to as no surprise that, unless 28 WEEKS LATER completely sucks, we’ll be seeing a follow-up, perhaps titled 28 MONTHS LATER. I said a week or two back that this is one franchise that could actually benefit from a horde of sequels, since the landscape of the movie’s world would constantly be evolving (into hell, of course). Whereas some sequels really are just the same thing over and over (I’m looking at you, SAW), here we might have something truly unique.
Moviehole received a scoop from an Irish radio show host who interviewed director Danny Boyle about his upcoming (well, one day we’ll see it) sci-fi thriller SUNSHINE, and Boyle let slip that indeed, a third entry is in the works (though it should be noted it does not say whether “months” will be in the title).
If you head on over to there, you can get the end of 28 WEEKS spoiled for you, but its nothing you really wouldn’t assume since they’re planning another sequel. What, you thought it was gonna be 120 minutes of Londoners skipping through Piccadilly while holding hands?
28 WEEKS LATER opens May 11.
