Over the last week or so there has been a lot of
talk about a potential remake of John Carpenter’s 1981 classic
ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks
this is a shitty idea. However there seems to be a slight development that may
pose a better solution than a remake. Can anyone say prequel?
I know this isn’t much to go on, but over at
Suicide Girls.com a conversation was had with John Carpenter and he was asked
about the whole remake situation. When asked about the remake, Carpenter said
“I don’t know that it’s a remake. I think it’s a lot about
Snake before he gets to New York.”
Carpenter is being brought on as executive
producer for the film as well, although I’m not entirely sure whether that’s a
good thing or not. He certainly not the creator he was in the 80’s, but who
knows maybe a prequel about Snake Plissken could actually be watch able.
