Captivity controversy

Anytime there’s a “public outcry” against your movie, you know you’re doing something right. Although when it’s against your ad campaign, you’ve got to worry a bit. On the one hand it creates a nice bit of controversy, on the other hand, your friggin’ ads are being pulled down!

Such is the case with After Dark Films and Lions Gate’s CAPTIVITY, Roland Joffe’s thriller starring Elisha Cuthbert as a girl who is held captive in a SAW-like environment, cuz that “terrorize-a-helpless-girl” genre is all the rage right now (well, I guess it always has been). Seems that New York and L.A. can’t handle the ads depicting Cuthbert getting all tortured, so After Dark is pulling them effective immediately. The movie opens May 18 so they still have time to replace the posters with something a little less, I dunno, traumatizing to those who look upon them.

Click HERE to read nervous execs pass the buck and claim “the wrong files were sent to the printer.” Sure, that’s what happened, in no way were they trying to disturb people with their freaked-out campaign…

If they just made pics like THESE their posters, the movie would make $40 mil opening weekend. Cuz that’s how much I have in my bank account…
