Murphy for Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO is still arguably one of the greatest movies ever made- a movie that set up an entire genre of slasher films, a movie that’s shower scene is broken down shot by shot and still studied by film students worldwide. Least to say when I heard there was a project in the works that explored the making of PSYCHO, I was more than intrigued!

Hollywood Elsewhere is reporting that Ryan Murphy (RUNNING WITH SCISSORS) is set to direct ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS, a film that will explore the hardships that Hitchcock went through to bring PSYCHO to the big screen. For the time, the script was too dark, too perverse, and nobody wanted to see it made. Good thing Hitchcock prevailed- can you imagine a world without PSYCHO? I can’t!

The site also hints that Hitchcock may even be played by the great Anthony Hopkins (though nothing official just yet), which would be cool in and of itself. Shave his head, add a few extra pounds… yeah, I can see that! Helen Mirren is also in talks to play Hitchcock’s wife in the film- though again, nothing’s set in stone at this point.
