Variety is reporting this morning that Jeremy Alter, producer of David Lynch’s INLAND EMPIRE, and location manager extraordinaire, has landed his first director’s gig, and from all accounts, it’s the project of a lifetime!
And by lifetime, I mean, if it’s gonna be your first movie, it might as well be this! The flick, produced by Unified Pictures, is called BENEATH THE SHADOWS, which tells of prisoner Robert McMartin, whose seemingly foolproof plan for escaping Bogan Penitentiary with fellow cell mates is threatened by the horrible things that go on in the prison’s basement when the sun goes down.
Described as THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION meets JACOB’S LADDER, the flick is sounding pretty hardcore, and could go to a lot of very cool places if handled correctly. Though it’s still early in the development process, there’s already a teaser poster out for the flick- and even that is lookin’ mighty slick!
