First we heard that Benicio Del Toro was set to star as the dude with out of control facial hair in the upcoming Universal Studios monster flick THE WOLFMAN, and I didn’t think it could get any better. I mean, Del Toro is perfect for the role!
Today we found out that it does get better though, as Mark Romanek is now on board to direct! Who’s Romanek, you ask? The same guy who brought us one scary-ass Robin Williams in ONE HOUR PHOTO, not to mention a butt-load of music videos from everyone from N.I.N. to Michael Jackson to R.E.M. to Madonna. The guy’s been everywhere, and now… he’s taking on THE WOLFMAN! Good shite!
The new WOLFMAN will follow the same period lead as the original, in which a man returns from the U.S. to his ancestral home in Victorian-era Great Britain, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.
Looks like this wet dream of a flick is actually going to be made, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s about time the Monster Movies of the 50s brought sexy back to today’s audiences! Production is set to start filming this fall, though no release date has been set yet.
