Just when you thought slasher movies were on the out and out (and by slashers, I mean original slashers, not remakes of slashers), there comes AMUSEMENT, an ‘original’ slasher that just started filming this week in Budapest, Hungary.
The stars of this feature were announced today, and they are… drumroll please… Keir O’Donnell, Katheryn Winnick, Laura Breckenridge, Jessica Lucas and Tad Hilgenbrinck! Oh.. wait… who? Well, between them they’ve stared in HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD, THE COVENANT and SATAN’S LITTLE HELPER, not to mention WEDDING CRASHERS, THE BREAK UP and AMERICAN PIE: BAND CAMP. Yeah, we’re not talkin’ a bunch of amateurs, people!
Oh, and did I mention that all the chicks in this flick are hot? Yeah, they are… and that’s always a plus! Now you’re probably wondering why I put ‘original’ in quotes like that… no? Well, you should be. Check out the short synopsis: a group of friends are stalked by a serial killer who knows them from their childhood, or Three women are made to suffer by a killer using their childhood grudge against them. Ring a bell?
Yes, it sounds a whole helluva lot like PROM NIGHT, or even VALENTINE for that matter. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but now you know they won’t be trying to reinvent the wheel with this one.
Directed by John Simpson and written by Jake Wade Wall (who also wrote both WHEN A STRANGER CALLS and THE HITCHER remakes), AMUSEMENT sounds… hell, I’ll say it… it sounds amusing! Light teenage slasher fun, that may or may not push the envelope, or at least rock an R rating for gratuitous boob shots and graphic violence. Keep this one on the radar for sure… if nothing else, the cast will be nice to look at.
