About a month ago Lena Headey was cast as Sarah Connor in the upcoming TV project THE CHRONICLES OF SARAH CONNOR, a spin-off of THE TERMINATOR franchise. Today The Hollywood Reporter got the word that Thomas Dekker has been cast as John Connor in the new series.
Previously portrayed by Edward Furlong in T2, then later by Nick Stahl in T3, John Connor is the leader of the resistance that takes down Skynet in the war between man and machine, and has therefore been targeted for termination in the past.
The show takes place between T2 and T3, when John is just a teenager, and depicts Sarah training and teaching John the ways of guerilla warfare, like any other mom does to their 15 year old kid. You may have seen Dekker here in the NBC TV show HEROES (what can I say, I’m frickin’ addicted to that shite), as he plays the friend of the cheerleader. You may also remember him as one of the creepy kids in John Carpenter’s VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED. And yeah… actually… he’s still kind of creepy, but that’s neither here nor there.
THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES is actually shaping up to be more than just some crap-fest TV show, let’s just hope they keep the ball rolling and follow through with something awesome. I mean come on, it’s a continuation of THE TERMINATOR saga, it better be damn good!!!
