Bad news on the ROBOCOP remake front. According to Bloody-Disgusting, the film which was rumoured back in November of last year to be on the block for Sony Pictures with Michael DeLuca, has effectively been stopped. The anonymous scooper who relayed the news to B-D stated that the studio simply “no longer has interest in the remake”.
While I’m sure there are mixed reactions to this, with folks detesting the idea of a remake of one of Paul Verhoeven’s best films, and others wanting to see redemption for ROBOCOP 3. Personally, I’d like to see a return to the original’s grittiness, but ignore the sequels and USE FRANK MILLER’S SCRIPTS!
