We got a heads up today from filmmaker Russ Diaper, who’s currently working on his latest film, HELLBILLY 58, which is a slasher flick in the vein of classic Troma films of the past. If splatter and fun are what you look for in a movie, this may just be your ticket!
Starring Stef Richfield, Russ Diaper, Matt Armor, Dave Diaper, Stacie Scott, and Lloyd Kaufman, with more casting still in the works, this is looking to be one of the more promising indie slashers that I’ve come across in a long time. Why? Check out the synopsis: Back in 1958 there was a trouble some hillbilly called William Sawyer, he was an arsonist and he also caused a lot of fatal accidents. Election time is coming and the mayor wants him out of the town as all the trouble looks bad on him. He orders a bent group of cops and townspeople to kill this hillbilly and hide the body. They do, and nobody else ever knows about this cover up murder. BUT over the years there have been sightings, and talks of a local legend called ‘Hellbilly’. The legend that he’s not really dead and he’s still in the woods, waiting for revenge. Well the legend is true, and Hellbilly of 58 is back in town.
Sure, it’s your run-of-the-mill slasher film, but if you head over to the film’s OFFICIAL MYSPACE PAGE, you can tell the guy’s here have a lot of heart, and are truly out to make the ultimate slasher… ah yes, fun times indeed.
