Hugh Jackman hit up ComingSoon.net recently with an update on everyone’s fave Canadian mutant and his movie status. Of course, I’m talking about the X-MEN spinoff, WOLVERINE!
In the chat, Jackman said the project (which has had its script finalized since mid-October) “is out to directors and no, I haven’t heard anything. It’s hard because you can’t…We’re approaching very A-list directors so you can’t give it to 20 of them at once.” A-list directors, eh? I wouldn’t exactly call X-MEN: THE LAST STAND director Brett Ratner an A-list candidate after said film was less than spectacular, but apparently he’s still in the running for the director’s chair.
As for if we can expect any mutant cameos, Jackman replied, “It’s a prequel, so there won’t be many. There will be other new characters.” If the initial review of the David Benioff script by Latino Review was any indication, the ‘new characters’ would include The Blob, Stryker, John Wraith, Beak and Silver Fox, with Sabretooth back for the first time. Then again, you never know.
