BRayne 2 is On

While most people weren’t impressed with Uwe Boll’s video game adaptation of BLOODRAYNE, I didn’t it was that bad- then again, I saw it on video in it’s unrated form, and I saw it for free- if I paid to see it in the theater, I might have been a little upset. But just because I didn’t think it was that bad doesn’t mean I thought it was good, which is why this news is just so damn baffling.

Yesterday Brightlight Pictures announced that Uwe Boll will be directing BLOODRAYNE 2, this time with Natassia Malthe (who made out with Jennifer Garner in ELEKTRA) in the title role. I’m a little afraid that Kristanna Loken decided not to return and reprise her roll, but I’m sure she had her reasons. Like knowing when it’s not a good idea to continue a franchise that sucked from the beginning.

While the storyline is vague at the moment, Boll was quoted saying: “I’m excited to do a sequel to BloodRayne and this time in the Wild West. I’m a big fan of Sergio Leone and John Ford.” Yup folks, it looks like Rayne will be breaking vampire skulls in the wild wild west this time around- a true and blue vampire western! Boll+video game adaptation+sequel+western=good shit? Survey says…. um, not bloody likely!

As Loken is not returning, I’m sure the other impressive cast members from the first film will not be returning either, which is probably a good decision on everyone’s part. I will say this though, Malthe here is a super hottie, so if for no other reason, this flick will likely be worth a watch just to see her kick ass as Rayne. BLOODRAYNE 2 is set to start filming in and around Vancouver, BC later this fall, so stick around for more casting news and other info comes to light!
