Fans of the Pang Bros.’ THE EYE and its sequel are in for a treat, as Hollywood Reporter received word today that a third film is in the works, although it does have some bad news.
Unlike the previous two films, the Pang Bros. will not direct this new installment. Instead, director Tsui Hark (producer of last year’s SEVEN SWORDS) will assume the role behind the lens, and Peter Chan will head up producer duties. The Mandarin-language filim is budgeted at a mere $5 million, and will be shooting in China and Thailand.
The story for the film revolves around grieving widow Ching, who believes her dead photographer husband Dave is sending her supernatural messages about his death at sea during a diving expedition of ancient ruins in uncharted waters.
Yesterday, fellow night terror Ammon dropped news that the American remake of the first film starring Jessica Alba (who needs to phone me up regarding our dinner date and wedding) will hit theatres late next year under the reliable dudes at Lionsgate.
